history

The Angerdorf Terpt was first mentioned in a document on September 29, 1366. Presumably the place originated earlier in the course of the eastern colonization by German settlers in the 12th and 13th centuries. According to Reinhard E. Fischer, the place name describes a village created by clearing. The place name is more likely to be traced back to the Lower Sorbian “terp” for “ Ortscheit ”.

Terpt was a historical manor . On May 8, 1454, twelve Hufen and the Dorfkrug von Terpt were transferred to the Dominican monastery Luckau by the Lower Lusatian Margrave Friedrich II of Brandenburg . After the Peace of Prague of 1635, the Saxon Elector was enfeoffed with the Lower Lusatia margravate , to which Terpt belonged at the time. At the beginning of the 19th century the village had its own school, which was subordinate to the superintendent of Calau. Terpt also had a windmill and a stately brick factory . Terpt was also the seat of a parish in which, in addition to Terpt, the villages of Alteno, Groß Radden and Kaden were parish. After the Congress of Vienna the Margraviate of Niederlausitz was dissolved and Saxony had to cede Niederlausitz to the Kingdom of Prussia . In 1824 the place had 44 houses and 248 inhabitants. The households were divided into three farmers, nine cottagers and 32 cottagers . The estimate was 1333⅓ guilders. In 1840 Terpt had 328 inhabitants. It had two manors, one was subordinate to the then district administrator of the district of Calau , Anton von Stutterheim, the other was jointly managed by Anton von Sutterheim and Major von Sutterheim zu Terpt. 1864 one were sheep and one belonging to the town Vorwerk mentioned, the place had then 363 inhabitants. The manor belonged to a widowed Mrs. Gütschow, born. Clemens, subordinated.

In 1816 an extensive district reform was carried out in the Prussian administrative district of Frankfurt , in which the municipality of Terpt was incorporated into the district of Calau . After the Second World War, Terpt belonged to the state of Brandenburg , which was formed in the Soviet occupation zone from the province of Brandenburg west of the Lusatian Neisse . From October 7, 1949, the community belonged to the GDR . On July 25, 1952, the district of Calau was dissolved and the areas were divided into newly formed districts, with Terpt coming to the district of Luckau in the Cottbus district . After the reunification , the Luckau district merged with the Lübben and Königs Wusterhausen districts to form the Dahme-Spreewald district . Terpt was co-administered by the Luckau Office . On December 31, 2001, Terpt was incorporated into the city of Luckau. On October 26, 2003 the Luckau office was dissolved.
