history

Local history

The place name Radden goes back to the personal name Rad or Rada , which can be a short form of Radoslav or Radogost . The personal name was followed by the suffix -in , so that the Old Sorbian place name could have meant place of the wheel . The place was first mentioned in a document on July 8, 1377. The place name was mentioned in 1430 as zcu Kleine Raddin and in 1533 as Klein Rhaden . The Lower Sorbian name variants were in 1761 as Mali Radinz and 1843 Radyńc called. The suffix -yn is rare in Lower Sorbian place names. Eichler therefore takes -in as a suffix and sees the Lower Sorbian name variant influenced by the German. In this way the -d- is saved from the -i- , which is normally in a -ź- .

As a result of the Congress of Vienna , Klein Radden came to the Kingdom of Prussia with the entire Lower Lusatia and belonged to the Luckau district . With the Brandenburg district reform in 1950, Klein Radden and other communities left the Luckau district and became part of the Lübben district (Spreewald) . In 1952 the places came to the newly founded district of Calau . On October 1, 1966, Groß Radden was incorporated into Klein Radden. On October 26, 2003, Klein Radden and Groß Radden and the towns of Boblitz , Kittzlitz , Bischdorf , Groß Beuchow , Hindenberg , Groß Lübbenau , Groß Klessow , Leipe and Ragow were incorporated into Lübbenau / Spreewald as districts.

Klein Radden belongs to the Lower Lusatia church district .
