Local history

Monument to the fallen in Krimnitz

In a sales deed from 1315, Krimnitz was first mentioned as Crimitz . In this document, Bodo the elder of Ilenburg Ritter Christian, known as Lange, sold the rule of Lübbenau . The old Sorbian basic form of the name may have been Kremenica , derived from the word for pebble , today Lower Sorbian kśemjeń . Around 1395 the place was mentioned as Crymicz , 1541 as Krymnitzsch and 1573 as Crimnitz . The name of the Lower Sorbian place was mentioned in 1761 as Kschimize and in 1843 as Kśimice .

As a result of the Congress of Vienna , Krimnitz came with the entire Lower Lusatia to the Kingdom of Prussia and belonged to the district of Calau . With the Brandenburg district reform in 1950, Krimnitz and other communities left the Calau district, which was converted into the Senftenberg district, and was incorporated into the Lübben (Spreewald) district. In 1952 the places came to the newly founded district of Calau . On May 1, 1974, Krimnitz was incorporated as a district together with Lehde after Lübbenau. On May 1, 1999, the neo-Nazi organization Kampfbund Deutscher Sozialisten was founded in Krimnitz.

Krimnitz belongs to the Lower Lusatia church district and is parish after Zerkwitz .
