Local history

The name of the Angerdorf is one of the few patronymic names in Niederlausitz. It refers to a group of settlers who named themselves after a person - probably Bobola . The German form of the name was mentioned in 1461 as Babelicz and 1591 as Bobelitz , the Lower Sorbian name in 1761 as Bobolze .

Towards the end of the 19th century, the Boblitz population was predominantly Sorbian-speaking ; the language change took place essentially - accelerated by German school lessons and the abolition of Sorbian church services - until the middle of the 20th century.

As a result of the Congress of Vienna , Boblitz came with the entire Lower Lusatia to the Kingdom of Prussia and belonged to the district of Calau . With the Brandenburg district reform in 1950, Boblitz and other communities left the district, which was converted into the Senftenberg district, and became part of the Lübben district (Spreewald) . In 1952 the places came to the newly founded district of Calau . From the 1960s, south of Boblitz, lignite was mined in the Seese-West and Seese-Ost opencast mines until the early 1990s . Boblitz belongs to the parish of Niederlausitz and is part of the parish of the Sankt Nikolai church in Lübbenau. On October 26, 2003, Boblitz and the towns of Bischdorf , Groß Beuchow , Groß Lübbenau , Groß Klessow , Hindenberg , Kittlitz , Klein Radden , Leipe and Ragow were incorporated into Lübbenau / Spreewald as districts.
