history

Groß Radden was first mentioned in a document in 1336. The place name can be derived from a Sorbian personal name "Rad" or "Rada", which can be interpreted as a short form of the name "Radogost".

Groß Radden was always connected to the city of Luckau on a manorial basis until the 19th century . There was never a church in the village, the residents went to the village church in Terpt for services . Agriculture and cattle breeding were the main occupations of the inhabitants in the 18th century. Groß Radden and Klein Radden belonged to the Luckau district until 1952, after which Calau became a district town. The farmers, who were initially united in the Neue Heimat agricultural production cooperative , have been working since 1975 as part of the LPG animal production Klein Radden and the LPG plant production Groß Beuchow . Remains of Slavic houses are still under the village street.

After the Congress of Vienna , Groß Radden, like all of Lower Lusatia, came to the Kingdom of Prussia . On July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the newly formed Calau district in the Cottbus district. On January 1, 1966, the village was incorporated into Klein Radden . After reunification , Groß Radden was in the Calau district in Brandenburg . After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , Groß Radden came to the newly formed Oberspreewald-Lausitz district and was incorporated into Lübbenau / Spreewald on October 26, 2003 as part of the municipality of Klein Radden .
