The Ortscheit , also called Zugbaum, Klippschwengel or Schwengel for short, is part of a team of draft animals . It is a moving beam made of solid wood or metal. It serves as a connecting piece between the strings on which the draft animals pull and the hound or a scale that is in turn attached to the wagon . The mobility of the log prevents the horse from chafing its shoulders on the harness due to its mobility.
