Falkenhain ( Lower Sorbian Sokolnik ) is a district of the Drahnsdorf community in the Dahme-Spreewald district in Brandenburg . Until it was merged with the Drahnsdorf community on December 31, 2002, Falkenhain was an independent community administered by the Golßener Land Office.

location

Falkenhain lies on the border of Lower Lusatia between the Lower Fläming and Lusatian Heideland. The city of Golßen is about five kilometers away. Surrounding villages are the Golßen district of Landwehr in the north and Sagritz in the east, the district of Jetsch belonging to the municipality of Kasel-Golzig in the southeast, Krossen in the south, Drahnsdorf in the southwest, Schäcksdorf in the west and the district of Hohendorf belonging to the municipality of Steinreich in the northwest.

The Berlin – Dresden railway runs past the village to the west. The Dahme flows east of Falkenhain .

history

Falkenhain was first mentioned in 1354 as "Falkenhagen". The place name is a medieval fashion name, which reflects the popularity of falcon hunting at the time. Another possibility would be a heraldic name, i.e. a falcon in the coat of arms of the town founder. Falkenhain was completely destroyed during the Thirty Years War . In 1723 there was a manor , a church and 20 fire places in the village .

After the agreements of the Congress of Vienna , Falkenhain came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 and was located in the district of Luckau in the administrative district of Frankfurt . On July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the newly formed Luckau district in the Cottbus district . On August 25, 1966, the neighboring community of Schäcksdorf was incorporated into Falkenhain. After the reunification , Falkenhain was initially in the Luckau district in Brandenburg and was assigned to the newly formed Dahme-Spreewald district after the Brandenburg district reform of December 6, 1993 . On December 31, 2002, Falkenhain was incorporated into Drahnsdorf .

On August 30, 1992, Falkenhain was attached to the Golßener Land office. This merged on January 1, 2013 with the Unterspreewald office . As a result, the Golßener Land office was dissolved and the villages were reclassified into the newly formed Unterspreewald office .
