Surrounding villages are the districts of Sagritz and Zützen in the north, Gersdorf in the northeast, the municipality capital Kasel-Golzig in the east, the districts of Kreblitz and Gießmannsdorf in the southeast, Zieckau in the south and Kümmritz in the southwest, Drahnsdorf in the west , which belong to the city of Golßen as well as the district Falkenhain belonging to Drahnsdorf in the northwest.

history

Jetsch was first settled by Wends around the year 1200 . The place was first mentioned in a document on March 24, 1358. The name of the street village comes from the Sorbian language and means either hedgehog's foot or marshland , the latter appearing most likely because the place was in a marshy area that was drained for agricultural use .

Jetsch used to be part of the Golßen rule . From 1590 Jetsch belonged to the family of Elias von Loeben . In 1673 the lordship over the village came to Mr. Caspar Ernst von Karras , in 1743 this was given up again. From 1900 until the land reform in 1945, the manor was with Baron Manteuffel zu Krossen.

The village church in Jetsch is a boulder building from the late Middle Ages . The west wall was subsequently attached with massive bricks . The church tower has a spherical dome covered with pewter . The tower is also equipped with two bells. The pulpit and altar of the church date from the 17th century. The smaller of the two bells dates from the 15th century, the inscription on the larger bell, O.REX.GLORIE.CHRIST.VENI.CVM.PACE (O King of Honor, Christ come in peace) points to the 14th century.

After the Congress of Vienna , the formerly Saxon Jetsch came to the Kingdom of Prussia . On July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the newly formed Luckau district in the Cottbus district . After the reunification , Jetsch was in the Luckau district in Brandenburg . On August 30, 1992 the community joined the Golßener Land office . After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , Jetsch finally came to the newly formed district of Dahme-Spreewald . On 31 December 2002 Jetsch was with the hitherto independent community also sliding village of Kasel-Golzig incorporated. On January 1, 2013, the Golßener Land office was dissolved and Kasel-Golzig and its districts were reclassified to the Unterspreewald office .
