In 1496, Nickel Karras and his wife Anna donated 750 Rhenish guilders to build a parish church, which was completed the following year. The old church of Coswig is one of the most beautiful surviving village churches in Saxony today . The coat of arms of the Knights of Karras is located above the church portal. To the north-east of the church was the Karras family's moated castle . This property was sold by Hans and Georg Karras to Elector August I for 15,169 guilders in 1556 .

On this historical site there is now a villa from the 19th century, which has housed the Karrasburg Museum Coswig since 1996.
