Krausnick-Groß Wasserburg ( Lower Sorbian Kšušwica-Wódowy Grod ) is a municipality in the Dahme-Spreewald district in Brandenburg . It is administered by the Unterspreewald Office.
geography
In the middle of the wooded municipality of Krausnick-Groß Wasserburg rise the Krausnick Mountains (also called Bergspreewald ), which are at a maximum of 144 m above sea level. NHN ( Wehlaberg ) are about 100 meters above the adjoining Unterspreewald to the east . In the north of the community (in the United Wasserburg) of the branches edge channel of the River Spree (Wasserburger Spree) and leads in Baruth glacial valley for Köthener See who over the Dahme Flood Relief Canal with the River Dahme is connected. The community is located about 60 km southeast of Berlin .

The community includes the districts of Krausnick and Groß Wasserburg as well as the Forsthaus Brand and Forsthaus Meierei residential areas .
history
Krausnick and Groß Wasserburg belonged to the Beeskow-Storkow district in the province of Brandenburg since 1816 and to the Lübben district in the GDR district of Cottbus from 1952 . Since 1993, the places have been in the Dahme-Spreewald district of Brandenburg.
The community was created on December 31, 2001 from the voluntary merger of the previously independent communities Krausnick ( Lower Sorbian Kšušwica ) and Groß Wasserburg ( Lower Sorbian Wódowy Grod ).
Krausnick district

Krausnick is first mentioned in a document as Krusenigk in 1376. The name is derived from the Sorbian ksuswica = wild pear tree.
Groß Wasserburg district

The first mention of the place in 1554 is in connection with the enfeoffment of Wasserburg by Margrave Johann von Brandenburg . At that time, Groß Wasserburg was a Vorwerk of Krausnick. In 1728 the area of today's municipality was sold to Friedrich Wilhelm I , who used it as a royal hunting ground.

In the mayoral election on May 26, 2019, Schoan was elected unopposed with 78.1% of the valid votes for a further term of five years.
Attractions
The monuments list includes the Krausnick half-timbered cross church built in 1728 and the village community center, the former village school in Krausnick. The soil monuments are listed in the list of soil monuments in Krausnick-Groß Wasserburg .
About six kilometers west of the center of Krausnick, behind the municipality boundary with Halbe , is the Tropical Islands leisure pool . It was created in the world's largest self-supporting hall, which was built as a production facility for Cargolifter .

traffic
The community is on the L 71 state road between Dahme and Leibsch . The federal motorway 13 Berlin – Dresden with the junctions Freiwalde and Staakow runs about ten kilometers southwest of the community .
The nearest train stations are Schönwalde (Spreewald) and Brand, Tropical Islands on the Berlin – Cottbus line . They are served by the regional train line RB 24 Eberswalde - Berlin - Senftenberg .
