Klein Leuthen , Lutolk in Lower Sorbian , is part of the municipality of Groß Leuthen , part of the municipality of Märkische Heide in the Dahme-Spreewald district in Brandenburg .

Klein Leuthen is located in Lower Lusatia , about 17 kilometers northeast of the district town of Lübben . The village belongs to the official settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends . Surrounding villages are Wittmannsdorf in the north, Wiese and Schuhlen in the northeast, Leibchel in the southeast, Dollgen in the southwest, Groß Leuthen in the west and Bückchen in the northwest.
Klein Leuthen is located directly on the shore of the Groß Leuthener See and has a campsite there . West of the village the federal road 179 runs to Königs Wusterhausen , east the federal road 87 to Lübben and Beeskow .
history
Klein Leuthen was first mentioned in 1517 as Klein-Leutten . The place name is derived from the Slavic given name Luta or Lutol . Arnošt Muka gives the Sorbian name Lutolk . In 1844 Klein Leuthen had 113 inhabitants who lived in 15 buildings. The village was part of the parish of Groß Leine and was under the rule of the Leuthen estate .
After the Congress of Vienna , Klein Leuthen, previously Saxon, came to the Kingdom of Prussia . There the village was in the district of Lübben (Spreewald) in the administrative district of Frankfurt . Under the National Socialists, Klein Leuthen was forcibly incorporated into Groß Leuthen on April 1, 1939 . In 1946 Klein Leuthen regained its independence before it was again incorporated into Groß Leuthen on July 1, 1950. On July 25, 1952, the village was assigned to the newly formed Lübben district in the Cottbus district . After the fall of the Wall , Klein Leuthen was initially in the district of Lübben, where the municipality of Groß Leuthen joined the Märkische Heide district on November 2, 1992 with its district of Klein Leuthen . In the course of the Brandenburg district reform of December 6, 1993, Klein Leuthen was assigned to the Dahme-Spreewald district . On October 26, 2003, Groß Leuthen and 17 other municipalities joined the newly founded municipality of Märkische Heide and Klein Leuthen was downgraded to a part of the municipality.
