Jörg Vogelsänger (born May 17, 1964 in Woltersdorf , Fürstenwalde district ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From February 25, 2010 he was Minister for Infrastructure and Agriculture in Brandenburg . After the ministries were redesigned in the 6th legislative period, he was appointed Minister for Rural Development, Environment and Agriculture on November 5, 2014. On November 20, 2019, he left the government with the formation of the Woidke III cabinet .

Life and work

After graduating from high school , Vogelsänger began studying mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Dresden in 1984 , which he completed in 1989 with a degree in mechanical engineering and construction technology. He then worked as a development engineer at the Reichsbahn repair shop in Berlin-Schöneweide until 1991 .

From 1992 to 1994 he was the full-time managing director of the SPD sub-district Oder-Spree .

Jörg Vogelsänger is married, has two daughters and lives in Erkner .

Political party

In February 1990 Vogelsänger joined the SPD. From 1998 to 2015 he was chairman of the SPD sub-district Oder-Spree and a member of the SPD state executive in Brandenburg .

MP

Vogelsänger was chairman of the city ​​council of Erkner from 1990 to 2009 . From 1990 to 1994 he was a member of the district council of the Fürstenwalde district and from 2003 to 2009 he was a member of the district council of the Oder-Spree district .

Vogelsänger was a direct member of the Landtag of Brandenburg from 1994 until his election to the Bundestag in 2002 . He was also in the investigative committees 2/1 and 3/2. From 1999 to 2002 he was deputy chairman of the committee for urban development, housing and transport. For his group he was the transport policy spokesman.

From 2002 to 2009 he was a member of the German Bundestag . In both 2002 and 2005 he was elected as a directly elected member of the constituency of Frankfurt (Oder) - Oder-Spree . There he was a member of the Committee for Transport, Building and Urban Development. In the 2009 Bundestag election he was defeated by Thomas Nord ( Die Linke ) and left the Bundestag. After the state elections in Brandenburg in 2014 , he moved back to the Brandenburg state parliament through a direct mandate in the Märkisch-Oderland I / Oder-Spree IV state electoral district . In 2019 he regained the direct mandate in the state electoral district of Märkisch-Oderland I / Oder-Spree IV.

Public offices

After losing his direct mandate for the Bundestag, Vogelsänger was appointed State Secretary of the Brandenburg Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture on November 6, 2009 . On February 25, 2010 he was appointed Minister for Infrastructure and Agriculture, succeeding Jutta Lieske . From November 2014 to November 2019 he was Minister for Rural Development, Environment and Agriculture of the State of Brandenburg.
