Guido Wolf (2013)

Guido Wolf (born September 28, 1961 in Weingarten , Ravensburg district ) is a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ). From 2015 to 2016 he was the parliamentary group chairman of the CDU Baden-Württemberg and thus leader of the opposition . He was also the top candidate for the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2016 . Since May 2016 he has been Minister for Justice and European Affairs in the Kretschmann II cabinet .

Wolf has been a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg since 2006 . He also served from 2003 to 2011 District Administrator of the district Tuttlingen and from 2011 to 2015 in Baden-Wuerttemberg state parliament president .

education and profession

Wolf grew up in Weingarten and passed the Abitur at the Spohn high school in Ravensburg . He then studied law at the University of Konstanz . After completing his legal clerkship in the Ravensburg District Court , at the Ravensburg District Office and at the Tübingen Regional Council , he completed a specialization course in "Administration and Finance" at the University of Konstanz . The second state examination in law followed in 1988.

After completing his legal training, Wolf initially worked at the Tuttlingen district office until 1991 as a department head for public safety, order and traffic. He then worked until 1992 as a personal advisor and office manager for the Baden-Württemberg Minister of Transport Thomas Schäuble . He then worked as a judge at the Sigmaringen Administrative Court for two years until the end of 1994 . From January 1995 to October 1996 he worked as a head of department in the policy department of the Baden-Württemberg State Ministry .

Political career

Mayor and District Administrator

With effect from November 1, 1996 Wolf was in Nuertingen from the council to the First Mayor ( Councilor selected).

On November 21, 2002, the district council of the Tuttlingen district elected Wolf as district administrator to succeed Hans Volle . He took up this position in January 2003. In 2010 he was re-elected with 44 out of 46 votes, Wolf was the only candidate. He wanted to use the term of office for the further development of the district clinics, the safeguarding of the educational location and the double-track expansion of the Gäubahn . As a district administrator, Wolf campaigned for a partially privately financed reform university in Tuttlingen, and (when this project failed) for the establishment of a branch of the Furtwangen University in Tuttlingen for the 2009/2010 winter semester.

Member of the state parliament

In the 2006 state elections , Wolf was also elected in the Tuttlingen-Donaueschingen constituency with 46 percent as a directly elected member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament. During the 14th electoral term he was a member of the Interior and Social Committee. In the CDU parliamentary group, Wolf was also the spokesman for labor market policy.

In the state elections in 2011 , Wolf was even able to gain 46.3 percent compared to the previous election against the state trend - the CDU lost 5.2 percentage points or almost 12 percent. In the new state parliament, Wolf was initially a member of the following committees: Finance and Economic Committee, Interior Committee, Chairman of the Finance and Economic Committee. In the CDU parliamentary group he was a member of the working groups “Finances and Economics” and “Domestic Policy” and spokesman for public service matters.

On January 27, 2015, Wolf was elected chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.

Wolf maintains his constituency office together with Volker Kauder , the former chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group , in the rooms of the Tuttlingen train station .

President of the Landtag

On October 26, 2011, 109 of the 138 MPs elected Wolf as the new President of the State Parliament. As a result, on November 10, 2011, the district council of the Tuttlingen district approved Wolf's application for dismissal from the office of district administrator. He gave up his office as President of the State Parliament in January 2015 because of his top candidacy.

The CDU member survey at the end of 2014 won Wolf with 55.9 percent of the votes against Thomas Strobl . At the 66th state party convention of the CDU Baden-Württemberg on January 24, 2015 in Ulm , he was elected the top candidate in the state elections in 2016 with 93.8 percent of the delegate's votes. In this, the CDU lost 12 percentage points under his leadership and only received 27 percent of the vote, the worst result of the CDU in Baden-Württemberg at all, and became the second strongest party behind Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, which the media called a "desolate" result was rated.

Minister of Justice

Since May 12, 2016, Wolf has been Minister for Justice and for Europe in the Kretschmann II cabinet .

In the CDU, Wolf is a member of the Tuttlingen regional and district executive boards.

Positions

In the discussion about coping with the influx of refugees in 2015 , he follows his party colleague Julia Klöckner and also calls for refugees to be integrated and a burqa ban - for wearing burqas , he calls for the husbands of those who wear them to be punished. In general, he would like to limit immigration without demanding upper limits. In a joint declaration in February 2016, Julia Klöckner and Guido Wolf also called for daily updated refugee contingents and border centers. No one should be allowed to enter Germany without a reason for asylum or protection status.

Personal

After a 27-year childless marriage, Wolf has been separated from his wife since 2017 , but not yet divorced. He's a Catholic . Born in Weingarten, he is a blood rider and has participated in the Blood Friday celebrations 36 times as a rider, in 2015 as a standard bearer of the Weingarten blood rider group.

His grandfather Franz Weiß was Minister of Agriculture of Württemberg-Hohenzollern from 1946 to 1952 . In his spare time, Wolf writes poems in Swabian dialect , which he also recited during the 2006 state election campaign.
