Theresa Schopper (born April 9, 1961 in Füssen in Allgäu ) is a German politician ( Greens ). She was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1994 to 2003 and from 2008 to 2013. From 2003 to 2013 she was state chairwoman of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Bayern . Since May 2016, she was initially responsible as State Secretary for political coordination in the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg . On October 9, 2018, after Klaus-Peter Murawski's resignation, she was appointed Minister of State and kept her previous position in the State Ministry.

education and profession

After attending grammar school with the Hohenschwangau dormitory , she studied sociology, psychology and criminology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . The sociologist then worked from 1988 to 1992 as managing director of the Bavarian Greens.

Political offices

Theresa Schopper has been a member of the Greens since 1983 and has held various political offices. For example, she was the first city chairwoman of the Munich Greens from 1992 to 1994.

From 1994 to 2003 she sat for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in the Bavarian state parliament . Her focus was on social and health policy. Between 2008 and 2013 she was again a member of the Bavarian state parliament. Theresa Schopper was spokeswoman for health policy and a member of the Committee on Environment and Health. She was also deputy chairwoman of the nutrition, agriculture and forestry committee and a member of the sub-committee for the University of Politics in the Bavarian State Parliament and the Bavarian State Health Council . In the state election in Bavaria in 2013, in which she took third place on the Swabian district list and as a direct candidate of her party in the district of Marktoberdorf (Ostallgäu), she missed entry into the state parliament.

From 2003 she was state chairman of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Bayern , initially with Sepp Daxenberger , and since October 2008 together with Dieter Janecek . At the state delegates' conference in Bad Windsheim in 2011, Theresa Schopper was elected state chair for the fifth time in a row with almost 83%. She is also a member of the party council of the Bavarian Greens.

At the federal level of the Greens, she was a member of the Federal Party Council from 2004 to 2014. On September 28, 2013, she announced in a letter to the regional association that she would no longer run for regional chairperson at the 2013 regional delegates' conference in Augsburg.

From May 2016 Theresa Schopper was initially a civil servant state secretary in the Kretschmann II cabinet in Baden-Württemberg . On October 9, 2018, after Klaus-Peter Murawski's resignation, she was appointed Minister of State.

Memberships

She is part of the general assembly of the Petra Kelly Foundation, also an appointed member of the state committee of the Catholics and the Catholic Academy in Bavaria , she is also an adviser to the state board of IN VIA - Catholic Association for Girls and Women’s Social Work and supports an initiative for Combating trafficking in women . Honors

In 2010 Schopper received the Bavarian State Medal for special services to health. In 2012, Ms. Schopper was also awarded the Bavarian Constitutional Medal in silver.
