Wilfried Klenk (born March 3, 1959 in Oppenweiler ) is a CDU politician from Baden-Württemberg . From 2015 to 2016 he was President of the State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

Life

Klenk was born in Oppenweiler-Ellenweiler and grew up there on a farm.

education and profession

He trained as a paramedic with the additional qualification courses paramedic and qualified in the DRC and the -Bundesschule Academy for Crisis Management, Emergency Planning and Civil Protection for leadership and management tasks on. From 1983 to 1986 he was the head of the rescue station in Murrhardt and from 1986 to 1991 of the rescue station in Backnang . After being elected President of the State Parliament, he left the German Red Cross in 2015 after 38 years of full-time employment.

Political activity

Wilfried Klenk was municipal councilor in Oppenweiler from 1980 to 2018 and first deputy to the mayor from 1994 to 2018. From February 2017 to March 2018 he was the honorary managing mayor of the municipality due to illness of the incumbent. Since 1995 he has been chairman of the CDU local branch in Oppenweiler and from 2002 to 2018 he was also chairman of the CDU local branch in Sulzbach / Murr. Since the CDU no longer had the strongest parliamentary group in the state parliament in the state elections on March 13, 2016 , the right to propose the office of state parliament president lay with the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group, which Muhterem Aras nominated. Wilfried Klenk has been a member of the Oppenweiler Volunteer Fire Brigade since 1972 and was awarded the Gold Fire Brigade Decoration in 2014.
