Guntram Palm
Guntram Martin Palm (born June 21, 1931 in Berlin ; † February 11, 2013 in Korb , Baden-Württemberg ) was a German lawyer , politician ( FDP / DVP , CDU ) and President of the State Central Bank.
Life
Guntram Palm was born into a well-known Schorndorf family of pharmacists. After graduation, he took a degree in law and economics at the universities of Tübingen and Heidelberg on which he both legal state as well as in 1959 with the graduation to the Dr. jur. graduated (dissertation topic: History of the official city of Schorndorf in the Middle Ages ). During his studies he became a member of the student association Akademische Gesellschaft Stuttgardia Tübingen . He then worked as a lawyer in Stuttgart . From 1992 until his retirement in 2000, he was President of the Landeszentralbank Baden-Württemberg . As such, he was a member of the Central Bank Council of the Deutsche Bundesbank .
Guntram Palm was married to Ute Dollmann; The couple had three children, Christoph Palm , also a politician and Lord Mayor of Fellbach from 2000 to 2016 , Ulrich Palm , lawyer and university professor, and Michael Palm (game designer) . Guntram Palm died on February 11, 2013 at the age of 81 in his house in Korb in the Rems-Murr district .
politics
Palm first joined the FDP / DVP , was a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament from 1964 to 1972, and served as Lord Mayor of Fellbach from 1966 to 1976 . He moved to the CDU in 1975 and was again a member of the state parliament from 1980 to 1992 .
Palm has held office under Minister Karl Schiess since 1976 as Political State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior of the State of Baden-Württemberg. After Traugott Bender's resignation as a result of the suicide of the RAF terrorists in Stuttgart-Stammheim , he was appointed Minister of Justice to the state government led by Prime Minister Hans Filbinger on November 2, 1977 . On August 30, 1978, he succeeded Lothar Späth as head of the Ministry of the Interior and on June 4, 1980, he moved to the Ministry of Finance as head of department . On January 13, 1991, he resigned from the state government and was replaced as Minister by Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder .
