Reinhold Gall (born October 31, 1956 in Sülzbach ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From May 2011 to May 2016 he was Minister of the Interior of the State of Baden-Württemberg .

Professional and political activity

The trained telecommunications technician Reinhold Gall began his political career in local politics. In 1984 he was elected to the local council of the municipality of Obersulm ( district of Heilbronn ), in 1989 he became mayor of his hometown Obersulm-Sülzbach, and in 1994 he moved into the district council . In the 2001 state elections , he was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg for the Neckarsulm constituency; in the 2006 , 2011 and 2016 elections he won a second mandate for the SPD.

Since 2006 he has been the parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group. He gave up this office during his time as Minister of the Interior. He has resumed this office since the state elections in 2016.

He was the parliamentary group's internal and police policy spokesman, and from 2004 to 2006 he was also chairman of the internal committee. Since 2016 he has been a member of the Presidium of the State Parliament, the standing committee, the election review committee and the committee for rural areas and consumer protection.

Gall since 2009 Chairman of the District Fire Service Association Heilbronn and since 1984 district trainers of fire services in the district of Heilbronn. Until June 2007 he was also the state manager of the Social Democratic Community for Local Politics (SGK).

On May 12, 2011, Gall was sworn in as Minister of the Interior of the green-red government in Baden-Württemberg. He had to give up his positions as mayor of Sülzbach (1989-2011), member of the SPD parliamentary group in the district council (1994-2011, as chairman from 1999) and member of the Obersulm municipal council (1984-2011).
