The Kretschmann I cabinet formed the state government of Baden-Württemberg from May 12, 2011 to May 11, 2016 . Winfried Kretschmann led a green-red coalition of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and SPD , which was formed as a result of the state elections in 2011 . He is the first Prime Minister in Germany to belong to the Greens and the ninth head of government of the state of Baden-Württemberg, founded in 1952. Seven line ministers were appointed by the Social Democrats, four line ministries and the State Ministry were headed by the Greens. Members of the government with voting rights were also a State Secretary and an honorary State Councilor , both of whom belong to the Greens. There were also three political state secretaries who were not members of the government and a ministerial director with the official title of state secretary. The office holders were sworn in on May 12, 2011 in the state parliament.
The coalition agreement is entitled "The change begins". The Greens and the SPD agreed on the following division of responsibilities:
