Peter Friedrich (born May 6, 1972 in Karlsruhe ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2011 to 2016 he was Minister for the Federal Council, Europe and International Affairs in Baden-Württemberg.

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1991 at the Thomas-Mann-Gymnasium Stutensee , Friedrich did his community service and then began studying administrative science at the University of Konstanz , which he completed with a degree in administrative science.

In 2001 he joined the learning agency Bodensee Impuls GmbH in Constance as a research assistant . In 2004 he switched to Translake GmbH in Konstanz as project manager for EU funding programs .

Peter Friedrich is married and has two children.

Political party

Friedrich became a member of the SPD as a schoolboy in 1990. He initially got involved with the Jusos , whose deputy state chairman he was elected in 1992 until he finally became state chairman of the Jusos in Baden-Württemberg in 1997 .

Friedrich has been a member of the state executive committee since 1999 and the presidium of the SPD Baden-Württemberg since 2003 . Since 2004 he has been chairman of the SPD district association in Konstanz . From 2009 to 2011 he was Secretary General of the SPD Baden-Württemberg.

MP

From 2005 to 2011 Friedrich was a member of the German Bundestag . Here he was spokesman for the group of young MPs "Youngsters" in the SPD parliamentary group .

In 2009, Peter Friedrich again entered the Bundestag via the Baden-Württemberg state list . During this legislative period he was the representative of the SPD parliamentary group for the middle class and the liberal professions. In addition, he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the inquiry commission “ Growth, Prosperity, Quality of Life ”. When he joined the Kretschmann I cabinet in Baden-Württemberg , he resigned from his Bundestag mandate. From 2013 to 2016 Peter Friedrich was deputy state chairman of the SPD Baden-Württemberg. In the elections of 2016 he missed the entry into the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg.

From May 12, 2011 to May 11, 2016, Peter Friedrich was Minister for the Federal Council, Europe and International Affairs of Baden-Württemberg in Winfried Kretschmann 's green-red cabinet .
