The representation of the state of Baden-Württemberg at the federal government is located in the embassy district at the Berlin zoo in the district of the same name . It acts as a link between the state government and the Bundesrat and maintains close relationships with the German Bundestag and the federal government .

authority

The state representation is subordinate to the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg . The head of this is the representative of the state of Baden-Württemberg at the federal level . Currently this is Volker Ratzmann .

As a rule, the authorized representative is a State Secretary or a special “Minister for Federal Affairs” within the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg , which organizes government affairs. In any case, he is a member of the cabinet with voting rights. The federal state of Baden-Württemberg had the following representatives since 1952:

The building, built by architect Dietrich Bangert , is located in the embassy district at Berlin's Tiergarten between the Indian embassy and the Austrian embassy and was opened in June 2000. It is a new building on a plot of land that one half (formerly: Tiergartenstrasse 15a) once belonged to the art patron James Simon and the other half (Tiergartenstrasse 15) to the banker Emil Salomon († 1909), father of the famous photographer Erich Salomon . The new building and the property together cost more than 40 million euros. The building has a Baden wine tavern and a beer cellar, which is currently being converted into a lounge with a Zeppelin motif, as well as a fireplace room in the management area including a roof terrace with a panoramic view of Berlin.

history

The earlier states of Baden and Württemberg already had corresponding institutions, which in turn go back to the embassies of the federal states to the German Reich and its predecessor states . The first representation of Baden-Württemberg at the federal government was established in Bonn in 1954 and expanded in 1973. After the federal government moved to Berlin, Baden-Württemberg also decided to relocate its representation to Berlin.
