The representation of the State of Berlin at the federal government is located in the Berlin City Hall , the seat of the Berlin Senate in the district of Mitte of the district of the same name .

Until the Federal Council moved from Bonn to Berlin in 2000 , the state representative office was based in Bonn at Joachimstrasse ( 7 and 6/8 ), then initially until August 2002 in Wilhelmstrasse in Berlin.

Sawsan Chebli has been the representative of the State of Berlin at the federal government and State Secretary for civic engagement and international affairs since December 2016 . Department I Federal and European Affairs of the Senate Chancellery , which Christian Gaebler has been head of since April 2018, reports to the authorized representative . Chebli replaced Hella Dunger-Löper , who had represented the state of Berlin as an agent at the federal government from December 2011.
