The current building was designed by the Erfurt architects Dr. Worschech und Partner planned and moved into in 1999. From 1933 a "Thuringia House" stood on the property as a representation of the Thuringian state in the Reich capital; it was destroyed in the Second World War. After the reunification of Germany , the property, which had not been rebuilt until then, became the property of the newly founded Free State. The newly built Thuringia House was the second newly opened state representative in Berlin after the Bavarian one and the first from the new federal states . The cost of the entire complex was EUR 12.36 million.

The typical Thuringian building material travertine was used to clad the building . The public restaurant Der Thüringer is located on the ground floor . In addition to the ground floor, the first floor with an exhibition area is also open to the public.

Surroundings

The North Korean embassy in Berlin and that of the Czech Republic are located directly opposite the representation .
