Katrin Altpeter
Katrin Altpeter (* 6. November 1963 in Waiblingen ) is a German politician of the SPD and was from 2001 to 2016 a member of the state parliament of Baden-Wuerttemberg . From May 2011 to May 2016 she was Minister of Labor and Social Affairs in the Kretschmann I cabinet .
education and profession
After her school education at the elementary school in Waiblingen-Neustadt and at the Saliergymnasium in Waiblingen, Katrin Altpeter completed an apprenticeship as a geriatric nurse from 1984 to 1986 . After various activities in outpatient and inpatient care, she was trained as a teacher for care professions from 1990 to 1992 . She practiced this profession from 1992 to 1996 and from 1998 to 2001. From 1996 to 1998 she headed the outpatient care service of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt in Backnang .
Political activity
Katrin Altpeter joined the SPD in 1989. From 1989 to 1999 she was the local councilor and deputy mayor in Waiblingen-Neustadt; from 1994 to 1999 also councilor in Waiblingen. Since April 17, 2001, Katrin Altpeter has been a member of the state parliament for the SPD in the Waiblingen constituency . She was deputy group leader and a member of the Petitions and Social Committee. In addition, she was for many years the local association chairman of the SPD Waiblingen and from June 2002 to 2006 chairwoman of the SPD district parliamentary group in the Rems-Murr district . She does not belong to the 16th state parliament of Baden-Württemberg , which was elected on March 13, 2016 , as she received too few votes for the reassignment of a second mandate in the party-internal ranking.
On May 12, 2011, she was sworn in as State Minister for Labor and Social Affairs, Family, Women and Seniors of the green-red coalition government . Altpeter advocates a ban on prostitution based on the Swedish model .

Katrin Altpeter is Protestant. She is a single mother of one daughter. From 2012 to spring 2016, she was in a relationship with her parliamentary group colleague Florian Wahl .
