The Neckarsulm constituency (constituency 20) is a state electoral district in Baden-Württemberg . Since the state elections in 2011 it has included the communities of Bad Friedrichshall , Bad Wimpfen , Eberstadt , Ellhofen , Erlenbach , Gundelsheim , Hardthausen am Kocher , Jagsthausen , Langenbrettach , Lehrensteinsfeld , Löwenstein , Möckmühl , Neckarsulm , Neudenau , Neuenstadt am Kocher , Obersulm , Oedheim , Offenau , Roigheim , Untereisesheim , Weinsberg , Widdern and Wüstenrot from the Heilbronn district . In 2016, 112,781 of the total of 152,713 residents were eligible to vote.
The boundaries of the state electoral districts were fundamentally redesigned after the district reform of 1973 for the state elections in 1976 and have only been changed selectively since then. The Neckarsulm constituency, which essentially replaced the earlier Heilbronn-Land I constituency from 1976 , initially remained unchanged until the 2001 state elections. Before the 2006 election, the municipality of Erlenbach was assigned to the neighboring constituency of Heilbronn , as its population deviated too much from the average. However, this change turned out to be insufficient with regard to further population development. Since the state elections in 2011, a comprehensive change has been made which, in addition to the Heilbronn constituency, also includes the Eppingen constituency as the larger of the two constituencies of the Heilbronn district. In this context, the Erlenbach community is reassigned to the Neckarsulm constituency, according to the Ministry of the Interior “to avoid that 18 Heilbronn municipalities from two other constituencies are assigned to the constituency”.

Elections and MPs since 1976
In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg, each voter has only one vote, which is used to determine both the direct candidate and the total number of seats of a party in the state parliament . There are no state or district lists; instead, in order to establish the equalization of proportions, inferior constituency applicants are assigned second mandates .
