Bernhard Michael Lasotta (* 16th January 1969 in Heilbronn , † 11. January 2019 ) was a German politician of the CDU and doctor . From 2001 until his death he was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

education and profession

After graduating from high school at Hohenstaufen-Gymnasium Bad Wimpfen and doing military service, he began studying medicine at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , which he completed in 1997 with the state examination. From 1997 to 1999 he was an intern at the Heilbronner Klinikum am Gesundbrunnen . During this time he wrote his dissertation at the Institute for Medical Biometry and Computer Science at the University of Heidelberg, where he received his doctorate in medicine in 1999. The topic of his work was description and comparison of the spontaneous detection systems for adverse drug reactions . From 1999 Lasotta was an assistant doctor at the Clinic for Anesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care Medicine at the SLK Clinics in Heilbronn . As a part-time job, he studied business administration with a focus on hospital management at the Rhine-Neckar Administration Academy in Mannheim for a few semesters .

Political activity

Bernhard Lasotta's political career began in 1985 when he joined the Junge Union . From 1989 to 2009 he was a city councilor in Bad Wimpfen and chairman of the joint parliamentary group of CDU and free voters in the local council . From 1994 to 2009 he was Deputy Mayor of Bad Wimpfen. From 2004 he was a member of the district council in the district of Heilbronn and since 2005 chairman of the CDU district association Heilbronn.

In the Baden-Württemberg state elections in 1992 and 1996 , he was a second candidate for the CDU in the Neckarsulm constituency . In the election on March 25, 2001 , he succeeded Hermann Mühlbeyer in the same constituency as the first candidate of the CDU and won the direct mandate . In the next state election on March 26, 2006 , he was able to defend his mandate with 46.4 percent of the vote, also on March 27, 2011 with 40.7 percent and on March 13, 2016 with 25.8 percent.

In the 15th electoral period from 2011 to 2016 he was a member of the Standing Committee and the Committee on Integration and a deputy member in the committees for finance and economy as well as for work and social order, family, women and senior citizens. He was also the integration policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group.

After Lasotta died on January 11, 2019, his substitute applicant Isabell Huber moved up to the state parliament on January 22, 2019.

Family and private

Bernhard Lasotta was a Roman Catholic. He lived in Bad Wimpfen, was married and had two children. After a serious illness, he died five days before his 50th birthday.
