The state constituency of Konstanz (constituency 56) is a state electoral district in the south of Baden-Württemberg . In the last state election in 2006, 98,172 residents of the constituency were entitled to vote.

The boundaries of the state electoral districts were fundamentally redesigned after the district reform of 1973 for the state elections in 1976 and have only been changed selectively since then. There have been no changes since then that affected the constituency of Constance.

Member of Parliament since 1976

In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg, each voter has only one vote, which is used to determine both the direct candidate and the total number of seats of a party in the state parliament . There are no state or district lists; instead, in order to establish the equalization of proportions, inferior constituency applicants are assigned second mandates . The regulation that was in force until 2006, which provided for these mandates to be allocated according to the absolute number of votes at the level of the administrative districts, disadvantaged the Constance constituency, as it was always one of the smallest in terms of population compared to the other constituencies in the Freiburg administrative region . This made it difficult for applicants in the Constance constituency to win second mandates.

The constituency of Constance has been represented by the following members in the state parliament since 1976:

Political party Type of mandate Elected
CDU First mandate Klaus von Trotha 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996
Andreas Hoffmann 2001, 2006
Green Second mandate Günther Schäfer 1996
Siegfried Lehmann 2006
First mandate Siegfried Lehmann 2011
Nese Erikli 2016
FDP Second mandate Jürgen Keck 2016
