The constituency of Geislingen (constituency 11) is a state electoral district in Baden-Württemberg . In the last state election in 2016, it comprised the communities of Aichelberg , Bad Ditzenbach , Bad Überkingen , Böhmenkirch , Bad Boll , Deggingen , Donzdorf , Drackenstein , Dürnau , Eschenbach , Gammelshausen , Geislingen an der Steige , Gingen an der Fils , Gruibingen , Hattenhofen , Heiningen , Hohenstadt , Kuchen , Lauterstein , Mühlhausen im Täle , Salach , Süßen , Wiesensteig and Zell unter Aichelberg from the Göppingen district .
The boundaries of the state electoral districts were fundamentally redesigned after the district reform of 1973 for the state elections in 1976 and have only been changed selectively since then. The uneven population development in the districts of Göppingen and Esslingen made the first enlargement of the district of Geislingen inevitable for the 2006 state elections. Therefore, the communities Eschenbach and Heiningen from the constituency of Göppingen were assigned to the constituency of Geislingen. For the 2011 state elections, the communities of Albershausen , Ottenbach and Schlat were also incorporated into the Geislingen constituency.

Member of Parliament since 1976
In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg, each voter has only one vote, which is used to determine both the direct candidate and the total number of seats of a party in the state parliament . There are no state or district lists; instead, in order to establish the equalization of proportions, inferior constituency applicants are assigned second mandates . The regulation that was valid until the state elections in 2006, which provided for the allocation of these mandates according to the absolute number of votes at the level of the administrative districts, disadvantaged the Geislingen constituency, as it was always one of the smallest constituencies in terms of population.
This made it difficult for applicants in the Geislingen constituency to gain second mandates. The electoral system is therefore the main reason why the Geislingen constituency was only represented in the state parliament by one directly elected member of the CDU between 1976 and 2011 . These MPs are:
Political party | Type of mandate | Elected |
---|---|---|
CDU | First mandate |
Anton Ilg 1976 Hermann Seimetz 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2001 Nicole Razavi 2006, 2011, 2016 |
SPD | Second mandate | Sascha Binder 2011, 2016 |
