Max Neumeister

Max Neumeister (born May 15, 1849 in Kleindrebnitz , † December 1, 1929 in Dresden ) was a German forest scientist.

Life

Neumeister spent his childhood in the Vorwerk Kleindrebnitz and attended the Realgymnasium in Annaberg . From 1867 to 1869 he studied forestry in Tharandt with Johann Friedrich Judeich and Max Preßler . He then worked as a Forstadjunkt in Langebrück , where he planted seven peace oaks in April 1871, which are among the oldest surviving memorial trees in Dresden. From 1880 to 1906 he taught at the Tharandt Forest Academy. In 1887 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. From 1894 to 1904 he was director of the Royal Saxon Forest Academy in Tharandt and from 1906 to 1919 he headed the forest district of Dresden as head forester. Neumeister made special contributions to the further development of the teaching content and teaching methodology in forest science. He found his final resting place in the Inner Neustadt cemetery .
