Sascha Binder (born March 4, 1983 in Geislingen an der Steige ) is a German SPD politician and has been a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg since 2011 .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in Geislingen and doing civilian service at the City Youth Association Geislingen, Sascha Binder studied law at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen from 2003 to 2008 . From 2008 to 2010 he completed a legal clerkship at the Ulm Regional Court . Until 2015 he worked as a lawyer in Göppingen . From 2015 to 2017 he was the in-house officer of Vincent von Paul Soziale Dienst gGmbH. Since 2018 he has been working as a lawyer in Geislingen at the law firm Kellner und Kollegen.

Sascha Binder has been a member of the broadcasting council of Südwestrundfunk since 2013.

In 2014 he became a member of the Board of Directors of Kreissparkasse Göppingen and sits on the credit committee.

Political activity

From 2006 to 2009, Sascha Binder was a research assistant to the former Federal Minister of Labor Walter Riester . From 2005 to 2007 he was chairman of the Juso district association in Göppingen and from 2005 to 2011 a member of the Juso state committee in Baden-Württemberg. From 2007 to 2015 he was chairman of the SPD district association in Göppingen.

In the municipal elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2009 , Sascha Binder won a seat in the district council of the Göppingen district . From 2009 to 2019 he was deputy chairman of the district parliamentary group. He was re-elected as a district councilor in the 2014 and 2019 local elections.

In September 2009 he ran in the Bundestag election in constituency 263 Göppingen and on the state list of the SPD, but missed the entry into the German Bundestag .

He was nominated again as a candidate for the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2011 . He started in the state electoral district of Geislingen . With a share of the vote of 24.2 percent, he won a second mandate . Sascha Binder is the first SPD member in the Geislingen constituency since the state of Baden-Württemberg was founded. In the state elections in 2016, he again entered the state parliament with a second mandate.

Sascha Binder has been the media policy spokesman since May 2013. From 2013 to 2019 he was the legal policy spokesman and legal advisor for the SPD parliamentary group. In 2016 he was also elected deputy parliamentary group chairman and domestic policy spokesman by the SPD parliamentary group.

In the 2014 local elections, Sascha Binder moved into the Geislingen municipal council with the second best, and in 2019 with the best election result of all candidates. From 2014 to 2019 he was Deputy Mayor

In addition, he has been the deputy chairman of the SPD council group since 2014.

In September 2014 he was elected President of the newly founded umbrella association of Baden-Württemberg citizens' bus associations. Binder has been Secretary General of the SPD in Baden-Württemberg since November 2018 . He succeeded Luisa Boos , who was no longer running.
