Jordanita hector is a butterfly fromthe ram family (Zygaenidae).

features

The moths reach a forewing length of 13.0 to 14.0 millimeters in the males and 9.5 to 12.0 millimeters in the females. The head and forehead ( frons ) are only slightly wider than the compound eyes and shimmer copper. The vertex shimmers bluish green. The antennae have a slim shaft and shimmer copper and bluish green. They are combed long and consist of 41 to 43 segments. The patagia (paired structure on the pronotum , which covers the base of the forewings ) and the tegula scales shimmer bluish green. The legs have a coppery shimmer proximally and blue distally . The abdomen shimmers green and bluish at the end. The upper forewings shimmer green and distally blue. The hind wing tops are dark gray, the undersides are gray.

In the males the uncus is slender, the valves are slender and have a short, ventrally located distal process. The aedeagus is long and slender and strongly curved at the base. It has a long, slender cornutus, which is often split distally.

In the females the ostium narrows, the antrum is mostly absent. The bursal duct is translucent, has a smooth surface, and is long and slender. It is twisted distally and has no lateral processes . The corpus bursae is small and spherical.

Similar species

Jordanita budensis and Jordanita notata appear sympatric with J. hector . The species can be distinguished genitally morphologically .

distribution

Jordanita hector occurs in southern Turkey and Lebanon .

biology

Nothing is known about the way of life of the species. It is believed that the caterpillars develop on Centaurea cheirolopha . The moths fly in late May.
