In insects, the frons (Latin for "forehead") denotes the forehead region or face of the head capsule between the eyes between the two vertex areas (apex). It is referred to independently of head sutures such as the coronal suture, which is often divided into two branches on the frontal surface (frontal sutures) and includes the triangular forehead apotome . This can also include the base of the antenna and the forehead eyes or cut through the compound eye , but mostly it only includes the central forehead eye.
