Ricardo Bernal

Ricardo Bernal Romero (born August 28, 1947 in Fray Bentos ) is a Uruguayan politician .

The former police officer with the rank of Inspector Principal (R) , who took over the management of INTERPOL's headquarters in Uruguay in 1989 , does not belong to any political party. Bernal, who had previously worked in Montevideo, among other things, as deputy chief of police, still held the office of police chief of Colonia at the end of December 2004 and later held the office of police chief of Montevideo ( Jefe de Policía ). Bernal was from March 2, 2007 to March 1, 2010 first under Minister Daisy Tourné , then later under her successor Jorge Bruni , Deputy Interior Minister of Uruguay. This made him the first police officer in his home country to hold such a high office. Since 2007 he has also been a permanent member of the Junta Nacional de Drogas (JND). Bernal has at least one son.
