history

After the end of World War II, Karl Aberle and Fritz Harzendorf received a license from the US control government to publish a newspaper. The first edition of the Neue Württembergische Zeitung appeared on August 2, 1946.

1962: The Bosch family joins

In June 1962, members of the family of the entrepreneur Robert Bosch acquired half of the "Zeitungsverlags- und Druckhaus GmbH" in Göppingen through the Deutsche Verlagsanstalt (DVA) and the Württemberger Zeitung GmbH (District Court Stuttgart HRB 264), and thus the management of the Neue Württembergische Zeitung with her then six head leaves. The Boschs were already controlling the Stuttgarter Zeitung at that time . The widow of the founder Karl Aberle kept the other 50% of the shares. At the time, Robert Bosch junior and his sister Eva Madelung held 51% of the shares in DVA .

In March 1964 Der Kocherbote (circulation: 4000) in the Swabian Gaildorf was added and in July of the same year the Leonberger Kreiszeitung (circulation: 10,000), the Sindelfinger Zeitung (6000), the Gäubote in Herrenberg (5500), the Kornwestheimer Zeitung ( 4000), the Winnender Zeitung (4000) and the messenger from Welzheimers Wald (2000). Together, the Neue Württembergische Zeitung would have had a total circulation of 110,000 copies.

1974: The Bosch family leaves again

In 1974, the family separated Bosch of their share of the " Z eitungs v erlags- and D ruck house GmbH" - from the then CVP media company GmbH (based in Göppingen, but registered at the local court of Ulm under HRB 530067) emerged - by the Bosch the Württemberger Zeitung GmbH were sold to the media group known today as SWMH , which led to a larger castling within the Baden-Württemberg press landscape.

The Neue Württembergische Zeitung in Göppingen became the headline of the Südwest Presse Ulm and the ZVD Mediengesellschaft GmbH joined the Neue Pressegesellschaft as a 50 percent partner alongside the Ebner Pressegesellschaft KG . At the same time the Württemberger Zeitung GmbH took over 80% of the publishing house of the Stuttgarter Nachrichten .

The supraregional part of the Neue Württembergische Zeitung has since been produced in Ulm by Südwestpresse ; in Göppingen there is only one local editorial office for Göppingen . At the same time, part of the earlier headers of the NWZ went over to the Stuttgarter Nachrichten and has since been supplied with national content from Stuttgart.

The Württemberger Zeitung GmbH (HRB 264 at AG Stuttgart) is now a 100 percent subsidiary of the media holding South , which for SWMH the Stuttgarter Zeitung , the Stuttgarter Nachrichten and the Black Forest messenger controlled. It also has a 51% stake in Stuttgarter Wochenblatt GmbH and 10% in Schwarzwälder Bote Mediengesellschaft .

Others

From 1952 to 1973 the Neue Württembergische Zeitung was the publisher and editor of the Südwestdeutsche Illustrierte Wochenzeitung , a weekly supplement that appeared on Saturdays and which was then published by the Stuttgarter Zeitung until 2004 .

In 2004 the newspaper received the coveted local journalist award from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation .
