German local journalist award

The German Local Journalist Prize is a journalist prize from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation . It is aimed at journalists and editorial teams who have done exemplary things for local German journalism. The prize has been awarded annually in several individual categories since 1980 and is endowed with a total of 12,500 euros. A special price has been offered for volunteer projects since 2013. The award goes back to Konrad Adenauer , who felt very close to local politics and the local community as such throughout his political life .

At the award ceremony for the German Local Journalist Award 2009 in Braunschweig, Federal President a. D. Horst Köhler: The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's local journalist award is an important exchange for such ideas. It presents good examples and invites you to compare, to learn from one another and to do better. In this way he contributes to the quality of the journalistic work. For Bernd Neumann , Minister of State and Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, the prize is probably the most important award for regional newspapers in German-speaking countries.
