The Gelnhäuser Tageblatt was a daily newspaper in the old district of Gelnhausen . The editorial office was based in Gelnhausen, while the sheet was printed by the Gießen printing and press house, which among other things also publishes the Gießener Anzeiger . The daily paper was thus part of the newspaper group Central Hesse in the Verlagsgruppe Rhein Main .
history
The Gelnhausen Tageblatt first appeared on January 6, 1833 under the name Weekly Entertainment Gazette , after the first publisher, Johann Carl Janda, had received a license from the city of Gelnhausen.
After Janda's death, his son Johann Ferdinand took over the company in 1869, before it was handed over to the 22-year-old Friedrich Wilhelm Kalbfleisch in 1888. Veal can modernize the operation and increase the number of subscribers to over 2000 by 1911.
From January 2, 1919, the paper was called Gelnhäuser Tageblatt , because it was no longer published three times a week, but daily.
Shortly after the National Socialists came to power in 1933, the paper was banned for a short time before it was discontinued on November 30, 1935 and replaced by the National Socialist Kinzig-Wacht .
After the Second World War, the company was re-established in 1949 by the sons of Kalbfleisch, initially three times a week and later daily.
In 1986 the Gießener Anzeiger took part in the Tageblatt.
In 2008 the Gelnhäuser Tageblatt celebrated its 175th anniversary. Also since 2008 the newspaper has operated a portal at the web address gt-lokal.de , on which registered users could participate as “ citizen reporters ” with text and picture contributions.
On March 31, 2017, the daily newspaper and its advertising papers were discontinued.
