The Bocholter-Borkener Volksblatt (BBV) is a daily newspaper founded in 1871 as the Bocholter Volksblatt . The distribution area includes the cities of Bocholt , Rhede and Isselburg as well as parts of Hamminkeln . Since January 1, 2019, after a ten-year break, the BBV has been purchasing the coat again from the Rheinische Post in Düsseldorf, previously from the Westfälische Nachrichten in Münster.

The BBV is published by Temming Verlag, Europaplatz 24–28, 46399 Bocholt. The sold circulation is 25,873 copies, a decrease of 0.6 percent since 1998. In large parts of its circulation area, the BBV has a monopoly position as a local daily newspaper (see Einzeitungskreis ). The in-house advertising paper Stadt-Kurier is also published by Temming Verlag .

Edition

The Bocholt-Borkener people sheet was like most German newspapers until 2018 edition lost. The increase in 2018 is due to electronic newspaper sales . The circulation sold has increased by an average of 1.1% per year over the past 10 years. In contrast, it fell by 5.6% last year. It is currently 25,873 copies. The share of subscriptions in the circulation sold is 68.9 percent.

new media

The BBV has had its own website since 1998. After this was initially created from January 2010 in cooperation with the "Westfälische Nachrichten", the BBV has been managing its website independently since January 2012, with a focus on local content. Since June 2013, the content of the homepage has only been accessible to subscribers. At the same time, the BBV launched an e-paper and an app for tablets, followed by an app for smartphones in November 2013. The Bocholter-Borkener Volksblatt has been producing videos on local topics every day since February 2008 . A new media department was set up specifically for this purpose. Since 2008 the video contributions have always been published in connection with existing web articles.

Awards

The publisher took first place in the “ Ifra crossmedia award 2007” in the “Small publishers” category for the in-house produced part . In addition to the online area for young people - “Die Q” - the BBV's internet television was also recognized . In the following year the publisher is honored again: For the competition “The Model 2008”, the BBV wins second place in the “Ifra crossmedia award 2008”.

Jost Springensguth completed his editorial traineeship at the newspaper and worked as a sports and local editor.
