Local elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2009

The local elections in Baden-Württemberg took place on June 7, 2009 at the same time as the European elections in Germany in 2009 and local elections in six other federal states.

In 1101 municipalities and 35 rural districts in Baden-Württemberg , the members were elected by municipal councils and district assemblies. In the Stuttgart region , the regional assembly was also elected.

In the local elections, voters both voices could accumulate ( accumulate ) and candidates from a list to another transfer ( panaschieren ).

Eligible voters and applicants

German citizens as well as foreign citizens from the EU were entitled to vote. In the communities with a local constitution, the members of the local councils were also appointed. A total of 7,929,946 people were eligible to vote, 175,739 more than in the 2004 local elections .

The CDU , the SPD , Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen , the FDP , the Free Voters , Die Linke and the Republicans competed .
