Member of Parliament since 1976

In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg, each voter has only one vote, which is used to determine both the direct candidate and the total number of seats of a party in the state parliament . There are no state or district lists; instead, in order to establish the equalization of proportions, inferior constituency applicants are assigned second mandates . The regulation, which was valid until the state elections in 2006, provided for these mandates to be allocated according to the absolute number of votes at the level of the administrative districts, and therefore put the Freudenstadt constituency at a considerable disadvantage as one of the smallest constituencies in terms of population. Nevertheless, the former mayor of Horb am Neckar , Michael Theurer ( FDP ), twice managed to win a second mandate for his party, which required a constituency result that was well above the party's national result.

The constituency of Freudenstadt has been represented by the following members in the state parliament since 1976:

Political party Type of mandate Elected
CDU First mandate Norbert Schneider 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992
Carmina Brenner 1996, 2001, 2006, resigned from office in September 2007
Norbert Beck , moved up on September 19, 2007, 2011, 2016
FDP Second mandate Michael Theurer 2001, 2006, resigned from office in August 2009
Timm Kern 2011, 2016
