The constituency of Wangen (constituency 68) is a state electoral district in the south-east of Baden-Württemberg . In the last state election in 2011, it comprised the communities of Achberg , Aichstetten , Aitrach , Amtzell , Argenbühl , Aulendorf , Bad Waldsee , Bad Wurzach , Bergatreute , Isny im Allgäu , Kißlegg , Leutkirch im Allgäu , Vogt , Wangen im Allgäu and Wolfegg from the Ravensburg district as well as from the district of Biberach the communities Berkheim , Dettingen an der Iller , Erolzheim , Kirchberg an der Iller , Kirchdorf an der Iller , Rot an der Rot and Tannheim . 120,981 residents of the constituency were entitled to vote.

The boundaries of the state electoral districts were fundamentally redesigned after the district reform of 1973 for the state elections in 1976 and have only been changed selectively since then. The constituency of Wangen initially only included communities from the eastern part of the Ravensburg district . As a result of above-average population growth in the neighboring district of Biberach , changes were necessary for the first time for the 2006 state election. The municipalities of Berkheim , Kirchdorf an der Iller and Tannheim from the constituency of Biberach in the Württemberg Illertal were assigned to the constituency of Wangen. From the state elections in 2011, the municipalities of Dettingen an der Iller , Erolzheim , Kirchberg an der Iller and Rot an der Rot as well as the municipality of Aulendorf, which previously belonged to the constituency of Ravensburg, were incorporated into the constituency of Wangen.

Member of Parliament since 1976

In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg, each voter has only one vote, which is used to determine both the direct candidate and the total number of seats of a party in the state parliament . There are no state or district lists; instead, in order to establish the equalization of proportions, inferior constituency applicants are assigned second mandates .

The constituency of Wangen has only been represented by a directly elected member of the CDU in the state parliament since 1976, and by a member of the Greens since 2016.
