Nese Erikli (2013)

Nese Erikli (born July 19, 1981 in Heilbronn ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) with Alevi-Turkish roots. She is a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament in the 16th electoral period (2016–2021).

Life

Nese Erikli was born in Heilbronn as the youngest of six children. Her parents were Alevis from Anatolia in Turkey . Erikli's father came to Germany as a guest worker in 1968 , first working at Kolbenschmidt in Neckarsulm and then as a road builder for the city of Heilbronn. Her illiterate mother followed in 1980 with five children born in Turkey (three daughters, two sons). The family initially lived in the hamlet of Buchhorn , part of Eberstadt , where they were the only foreigners among around 100 residents. When Erikli was five years old, the family moved to Heilbronn to give one of the sons an education. After the early death of her father, Erikli took over responsibility for administrative procedures and similar family affairs.

In Heilbronn, after completing primary school, Erikli first attended secondary school on the recommendation of the class teacher. After half a year she switched to secondary school at her request and finally attended a business high school, which she graduated with the Abitur. In 2002 she took on German citizenship and gave up Turkish citizenship in return .

She has lived in Konstanz since 2002 . She studied law in Konstanz and Linz. After dropping out of her studies, she worked in various jobs in Germany and Switzerland , including as a project manager in foundation management for the Blue Cross in Zurich .

Erikli is a member of the Höri-Musiktage Bodensee , the NABU , the BUND , the Zebra Cinema , the Große Konstanzer Narrengesellschaft Niederburg eV and the Deutscher Mieterbund Bodensee eV

politics

The statement by her primary school class teacher, which she perceived as discrimination, that secondary school would be enough for Erikli as a Turkish woman, brought Erikli to politics. At the age of 14 she did an internship in the Ludwigsburg office of the Green Bundestag member Cem Özdemir during the summer holidays . At the age of 19 she applied for German citizenship in order to be able to vote. In 2000 she joined the Greens and from 2012 to 2017 was a member of the district board of the Greens in Konstanz and from 2013 to 2016 she was the spokesperson for the State Working Group on Democracy, Law and Internal Security of the Greens in Baden-Württemberg .

Their commitment is to strengthen Baden-Württemberg as a location for science and to promote culture. Erikli also advocates more citizen participation and democratic participation, especially in the context of socially disadvantaged groups.

In the general election in 2013 she stood as a candidate in Konstanz parliamentary constituency for Alliance 90 / The Greens and received 20.6 percent of the primary vote in the city of Konstanz (13.3% of the primary vote and 12.7% of second votes in the constituency).

In the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2016, Nese Erikli won the direct mandate for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen with 39.64 percent of the Constance constituency and thus achieved the best result so far for her party in the Constance constituency. She won the nomination as a candidate of the Greens for the constituency of Constance against her opponent Siegfried Lehmann with 53 to 43 votes. Erikli's candidacy against the previous mandate holder was accompanied by sometimes incorrect reporting. Erikli was accused by her opponents of having brought votes. However, these allegations could not be proven. Erikli said: “I did something that is natural in a democracy . I have decided to run against it. ”Your opponent, who has been a member of the constituency since 2006, said:“ I was completely surprised by the large number of new entrants in the days before the nomination meeting. It has nothing to do with fairness. "

Nese Erikli is a member of the Standing Committee and the Committee for Science, Research and Art of the State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg. In her parliamentary group, she is the spokesperson for research policy as well as for civic participation and democracy, and she is also the deputy chairwoman of the parliamentary group's working group for science, research and the arts. Nese Erikli has been a member of the supervisory board of the Baden-Württemberg Foundation since 2016. In September 2017, she also took a seat on the parliamentary committee of inquiry into the allowance affair at the University of Public Administration and Finance in Ludwigsburg.

Political positions

Housing policy

Erikli is very committed to housing construction in her constituency. Her small inquiry about the development of social housing in Konstanz and Radolfzell caused a lot of media coverage . She advocates a stronger expansion of social rented living space and campaigned in particular for the tenants in Schwaketenstrasse Konstanz, who receive high rent increases through modernization measures by the Vonovia housing company . Erikli is also concerned with the issue of student living space, which is why she has also made a request to the ministry about this and, despite the positive development, is demanding the further expansion of dormitory spaces.

Religious politics

Erikli advocates modern and enlightened Islamic religious instruction as a building block for social cohesion. This must be organized by the state and should not be left to associations such as Ditib , whose greatest critic is Erikli and which she regards as Erdogan's extended arm .

Environment / Agriculture Policy

Erikli is seen as an opponent of the plans of the RegioBodenseefisch cooperative , which wants to install up to 12 net enclosures for breeding whitefish in Lake Constance . According to Erikli, Lake Constance is “not a field” that can be used for food production, which is why she rejects any form of net enclosure.
