A district fire brigade association (KFV) in Germany is the respective professional association of fire brigades in a district or a large city . In some cases, district fire brigade associations also exist in an area of former rural districts because they have not followed through mergers at the municipal or administrative level. In large cities or urban districts, they are also referred to as city fire brigade associations .

Members of a KFV are the fire brigades or, if necessary, city fire brigade associations in their district. The tasks of the district fire brigade associations are in the area of interest representation , public relations , fire protection education and reconnaissance as well as the promotion of the fire brigade, fire and disaster control , training and further education, fire brigade music, the youth fire brigades and children's fire brigades . They form a kind of intermediate instance between the fire brigades and the responsible state fire brigade association or district fire brigade association (in the federal states of Bavaria and Hesse ).

From the 1970s to the beginning of the 1990s, the German Fire Brigade Association, with its state fire brigade associations, district fire brigade associations, and city and district fire brigade associations, annually called for the nationwide fire protection week to be held under a different motto in order to improve acceptance of the fire brigade among the population. In many cases, association days at the district level are organized by the district fire brigade associations.
