Ulrich Palm

Ulrich Palm (born June 15, 1969 in Waiblingen ) is a German law scholar and constitutional law teacher .

Life

Career

Ulrich Palm was born to Guntram Palm and Ute Dollmann. After graduating from high school at Saliergymnasium Waiblingen, he completed a banking apprenticeship from 1989 to 1991 with additional training as a financial assistant at Deutsche Bank in Stuttgart. He did his community service in 1991/92 with the German Red Cross . From 1992 to 1996 he studied law in Heidelberg and passed the first state examination there. During this time he was a fellow of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation . After completing his doctoral studies, he completed a legal clerkship at the Baden-Baden regional court from 1998 to 2000, which he completed with the second state examination. In 1999, he was at the University of Heidelberg to the Dr. iur. utr. PhD (Dissertation: Price Stability in the European Economic and Monetary Union).

From 2000 to 2003 Ulrich Palm was a research assistant at the Institute for Finance and Tax Law at the University of Heidelberg with Paul Kirchhof , as well as a consultant for the research group on the Federal Tax Code . From 2003 to 2005 he was a research assistant at the Federal Constitutional Court in the department of Udo di Fabio . In 2005 he returned to the Institute for Finance and Tax Law at the University of Heidelberg as an academic advisor. In the 2011/2012 winter semester, he held a substitute professorship for public law and tax law at the University of Münster . He declined a call there. His main research interests lie in the areas of constitutional law, finance and tax law, European law and currency law. In his post-doctoral thesis he fundamentally worked on the concept of the legal person.

family

Ulrich Palm is Protestant and has three daughters. As a representative of the Palm family, he is on the board of trustees (chair) of the Palm Foundation and on the board of trustees of the Johann Philipp Palm Prize , which he designed together with the founders.
