Peter Strobel (born August 28, 1970 in Saarbrücken ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been Minister of Finance and Europe and Minister of Justice of the Saarland since March 2018 .

education and profession

After attending the elementary, secondary and higher commercial school in Saarbrücken, Strobel did his military service with the military police in Zweibrücken . In 1991 he completed his training in wholesale and foreign trade . From 2004 to 2018, Peter Strobel was the managing partner of his own family business, Strobel GmbH & Co. KG in Brebach .

Political commitment

Since 2003 Strobel has been deputy chairman of MIT Saarbrücken (medium-sized and business association of the CDU) as well as a member of the CDU's economic council and deputy chairman of the CDU Brebach-Fechingen. He has been district chairman of the CDU Saarbrücken-Stadt since 2013 and deputy state chairman of the CDU Saar since 2017

From 2004 to 2018 Strobel was a city councilor in Saarbrücken and from 2006 to 2018 chairman of the CDU city council group. He was a member of the supervisory board of the Saarbrücker Stadtwerke and the municipal clinic as well as a member of the administrative board of the Sparkasse . In 2011 he ran unsuccessfully for the office of Lord Mayor of the Saarland capital.

In the state elections in 2012 , Strobel was elected to the Saarland state parliament, where he was a member of the board of the CDU state parliamentary group. From 2015 to 2018 he was deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.

Since March 1, 2018, Strobel has been Minister of Finance and Europe and Minister of Justice of the Saarland in the Hans cabinet .

Volunteering

From 1984 to 1988 Strobel was actively involved in the youth group of the Protestant parish in Fechingen. He began to coach the young footballers of FV Fechingen in 1985. Since 2000 he has been the first chairman of the Fechinger football club. In addition, Strobel was active on the board of sports youth of the state sports association between 1995 and 2000 as a consultant for international connections. In addition to his honorary posts in sport, he was a lay judge at the local court from 2001 to 2004 .
