Andreas Dressel (* 6. January 1975 in Hamburg ) is a German politician of the SPD . He is the Finance Senator of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg ( Senate Tschentscher I ). From 2011 to 2018 he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the Hamburg parliament .

Life

Dressel did his Abitur at the Walddörfer-Gymnasium in Hamburg-Volksdorf . He studied law at the University of Hamburg and was a research assistant at Ulrich Karpen's seminar for administrative studies . He obtained his doctorate in 2003. jur. at the University of Hamburg on the subject of referendums and referendums in the Hamburg districts . After completing his legal clerkship in Hamburg and Los Angeles , he passed the second state examination in 2004.

After the Hamburg state election in 2004 , he became a member of the Hamburg Parliament for the first time . From 2011 Dressel was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. He is on leave of absence from his position as Head of Unit for Housing, Urban Renewal and Land Management at the Authority for Urban Development and the Environment .

He is a member of the association Koralle - district culture in Volksdorf , in the support group of the law faculty of the University of Hamburg, in the Hamburg alumni association of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, in the Arbeiterwohlfahrt , in the alumni association of the Walddörfer-Gymnasium in Volksdorf, in the victim protection organization Weißer Ring , in the De Spieker Association , in the Society for Homeland Care and Local Research in the Hamburg Forest Villages and in the Friends of the House of Youth in Volksdorf .

Dressel is married and lives in Hamburg-Volksdorf . He has three children. His father, Helmut Dressel, was once the head of the department in the financial authority he heads.

politics

Dressel has been a member of the SPD since 1994. He is the deputy chairman of the local SPD association in Volksdorf and chairman of the Wandsbek SPD district. Between 1997 and 2001 he was a member of the Wandsbek district assembly (focus: youth welfare, culture and finance, economy and transport). From 2001 to 2004 he was a deputy to the judicial authority and advisory board at the Billwerder correctional facility .

Dressel has been a member of the Hamburg state parliament, the Hamburg Parliament, since March 17, 2004 . There he sat in the 18th electoral term for his parliamentary group in the submission, home affairs, legal and constitutional committee as well as in the parliamentary committee of inquiry (PUA) for information transfer. He was also a member of the control bodies for the secrecy of letters, mail and telecommunications, housing surveillance and the protection of the constitution .

From 2004 to 2011 Dressel was the specialist spokesman for his parliamentary group for domestic affairs.

In February 2008 he moved to the state election on the constituency Alstertal Walddörfer again as a deputy in the citizenship one. During this electoral period he sat on the budget committee, home affairs committee, legal committee, the public service and human resources committee, the constitutional and district committee and the housing surveillance control body.

In the election in February 2011 , Dressel was re-elected as the SPD top candidate in the Alstertal-Walddörfer constituency . He was elected chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the 20th parliament.

In the 2015 and 2020 citizenship elections , Dressel won another direct mandate in the Alstertal-Walddörfer constituency. He was confirmed in his office as parliamentary group leader at the constituent meeting of the SPD parliamentary group in the 21st parliament.

On March 28, 2018, he became Finance Senator of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
