Hermann Willink

Georg Hermann Elking Willink (born November 25, 1879 in Hamburg ; † August 12, 1965 in Hamburg-Niendorf ) was a German banker .

Life

Willink trained with Joh. Berenberg, Gossler & Co. After completing his fellowship and five years in Spain, England and the USA, he was employed by the Norddeutsche Bank in 1905 . In 1906 he was appointed authorized signatory there, and in 1910 deputy director. From 1919 Willink was director of Norddeutsche Bank, later owner (personally liable partner) of Norddeutsche Bank, from 1929 to 1945 he was director of Deutsche Bank and Discount Society and thus a member of the board of Deutsche Bank. From 1946 to 1948 he was a trustee at Reemtsma . From 1948 to 1953 he was a board member of the Vereinsbank Hamburg .

From 1914 to 1918 Willink was a participant in the First World War, as Rittmeister of the reserve of the Hussar Regiment "Emperor Franz Josef of Austria, King of Hungary" (Schleswig-Holstein) No. 16 .

As a non-party, Willink held the post of Finance Senator in the Hanseatic city under Mayor Rudolf Petersen from August 3, 1945 to February 4, 1946 . At the instigation of the British occupation forces , Hermann Willink had to give up his office in early 1946. He was accused of lack of effectiveness.

He was a member of the supervisory board of Phoenix Gummiwerke Aktiengesellschaft in Harburg and other companies. From 1945 to 1957 Willink was a member of the supervisory board of the mortgage bank in Hamburg .

Willink was one of the co-founders of the Hamburg National Club and was a member of the board until 1934.

Willink's grandfather was Carl Heinrich Willink . On May 27, 1911, he married Alida Susanne Mutzenbecher, daughter of Hermann Mutzenbecher .
