founding
The mortgage bank in Hamburg was founded on the initiative of Otto Hübner . He had already founded the Preussische Hypotheken-Versicherungs-Actien-Gesellschaft and found suitable partners in the Vereinsbank , the Berliner Handels-Gesellschaft and the Haller, Söhle & Co. bank . It was founded on May 12, 1871. The bank started operations with two directors, an accountant, and two other employees in an office at Große Bleichen 28. In 1874 a Berlin office was founded at Mauerstrasse 37, which was occupied by a clerk. In 1879 the loans were distributed as follows: 93% Berlin, 3% Hamburg, 2% Mark Brandenburg, the rest: other North German areas. The bank's new office building in Berlin, Französische Strasse 7, was ready for occupancy in 1894. The new building of the bank in Hamburg, Hohe Bleichen 17, was ready for occupancy in 1897.
