Elisabeth Kiausch

Elisabeth Kiausch (born January 19, 1933 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1970 to 2004 she was a member of the Hamburg Parliament , where she was, among other things, Mayor President from June to September 1987 and from 1991 to 1993 and Senator for Finance from 1987/88 .

Life and family

Kiausch is a niece of Felix von Eckardt (CDU).

After completing school, she trained as a typesetter in a Hamburg printer from 1949 to 1952 (journeyman's examination). She then worked for several years as a commercial artist ; later as a clerk in purchasing for a Hamburg magazine publisher. In 1966 she passed an exam to become a retail saleswoman . She worked as a self-employed retail clerk from 1966 to 1969.

She was married to Manfred Kiausch (1931–2009) and is the mother of two children.

Kiausch joined the SPD in 1951 . She was u. a. Member of the state executive committee of the SPD Hamburg . From 1966 to 1970 she was a district member of the Hamburg-Eimsbüttel district assembly .

In April 1970 she was elected to the Hamburg parliament. She was the managing director of the SPD parliamentary group from 1978 to 1987. In 1987, Kiausch was briefly president of the Hamburg parliament from June to September. This made her the very first woman to head a German state parliament. In September 1987 she was elected to the Senate of Dohnanyi IV ; she was president of the tax authorities , then head of the senate office for administrative services , the senate office for district affairs and the state archive . From 1991 to 1993 she was again President of the Hamburg Parliament. She chaired her parliamentary group from 1996 to 1997. Kiausch was a member of the Hamburg parliament for 34 years from April 1970 to March 2004 and was one of the three longest-serving parliamentarians in the Federal Republic of Germany . Her mandate was suspended during her membership in the executive branch . In her last electoral term as a member of parliament, she was initially a brief senior citizen and then a member of the budget and legal committees.
