Uwe Grund (2010)

Uwe Grund (born July 4, 1952 in Gundelsheim am Neckar ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and union official. He was a member of the Hamburg Parliament .

Life

After graduating from secondary school, Grund trained as an insurance salesman . At this time, the political commitment arose. During his training, he joined the German Employees' Union (DAG) and joined the Jusos. In 1971, he became DAG youth secretary in Baden-Württemberg. For his union he later took on tasks in company support and collective bargaining in the service industry.

In 1987 he moved to Hamburg. In the same year he was appointed regional association manager of the DAG in the Hanseatic city. As spokesman for the DAG advisory board, he was involved in founding the ver.di union in March 2001. From May 2001 he was Deputy Regional Manager at ver.di Hamburg.

From September 2009 to December 2013, Grund was chairman of the DGB Hamburg. He succeeded Erhard Pumm .

After his job, Grund continues to do voluntary work in the fields of business, social affairs and media. He is a member of the board of the NDR Broadcasting Council.

Party politics

Grund has been a member of the SPD since 1971. Even before his mandate in the citizenry, he was a deputy to the judicial authority.

From 1991 to 2011 he was a member of the Hamburg Parliament and a member of the SPD parliamentary committee. From October 2001 until his resignation in December 2002 he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. In Parliament , he sat for his group in the Economic, Social and Cultural Committee.

He was a spokesman for media policy and for many years chairman of the citizens' social committee. Other focal points of the political work are economic and labor market policy as well as cultural policy and international affairs.
