Paul Busse (politician)

Paul Busse (born September 12, 1938 in Wilhelmshaven ) is a Hamburg politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).

Life and politics

After completing a commercial apprenticeship and working at Thyssen and Mannesmann, Paul Busse obtained his university entrance qualification via the second educational path. He then completed a degree as a commercial teacher.

From 1971 to 1980 Paul Busse was managing director of the SPD parliamentary group in Hamburg. He was also a member of the Hamburg parliamentary group from 1974 to 1997. From 1987 to 1989 Paul Busse was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group as the successor to the later First Mayor Henning Voscherau.

From 1981 to 2003 he was managing director of the Congress Centrum Hamburg (CCH). In 2002 Paul Busse became CEO of the Herbert and Elsbeth Weichmann Foundation in Hamburg. His successor there is Ingrid Nümann-Seidewinkel.
