The red-green Senate Tschentscher II has been the state government in Hamburg since the re-election of Peter Tschentscher as First Mayor on June 10, 2020 . The four Senators of the Greens were introduced on May 30, 2020, the seven members of the Senate at the suggestion of the SPD were announced on June 1, 2020. The election of Peter Tschentscher took place on June 10, 2020 in the citizenry . He received 87 of 123 votes and thus presumably the unanimous approval of the coalition MPs of the SPD and the Greens. The senators were subsequently confirmed by the citizens with 83 votes. Previously, there had been internal party criticism of the lack of gender parity on the part of the SPD senators (five men and two women). In addition, the professional suitability of the new Justice Senator Anna Gallina (Greens) was questioned due to lack of legal qualifications . The State Councilors were appointed on June 11, 2020.
